SPACE IS THE PLACE ACT 1
In September 2021 Patric in collaboration with artist Angelo Madonna exhibited a series of works at Convenience Gallery in an exhibition titled, Space is the Place.
The first in a series of conceptual explorations the exhibition encouraged the viewer to connect deeper to the environments and places around them and to explore how our connection to place is made through our experiences, dreams, memories and through the landscape itself.
Drawing upon the conceptual notion of psychogeography the artists explored through a series of works how we as individuals connect to the places we inhabit through the history, mythology, folklore, energy, and memories held in those places.
Space is the Place: Act 1
Space is the Place is Patric Rogers in collaboration with Angelo Madonna's deeply personal memoir to his most sacred of spaces, Hilbre Island. It is a cerebral exhibition project exploring the psychogeography of one of Wirral's iconic landmarks.

SUSPENDED WIRE SCULPTURE
In Space the artists created a 10ft wire frame sculpture. The sculpture was formed by taking the topography of Hilbre Island in Wirral, Merseyside and suspending it vertically from the ceiling. The work explored the idea of maps, what they represent and how we as humans hold our own maps of the places we hold dearest within our minds not as true representations of the place but as memories in themselves often led by nostalgia and experience than accuracy.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHIC COLLECTION
Individual light points of an image were turned into a three dimensional image and manipulated to create a series of 25 images which when viewed in the correct order reveal a single image.
In Memory the artist explores the unreliable nature of memory, how it changes and fragments over time to often create a feeling rather that an accurate depiction of events.

Dream is a short film directed by Patric Rogers. The film depicts a dream and encourages the viewer to consider how dreams connect us to our sense of place. Dreams connect us to the surrealist moments in our special places.
The film was be shown looping on an old CRT monitor and listened to through head phones
PLACE

Written and Directed by Patric Rogers, in collaboration with Angelo Madonna is a cerebral trip to a place within Hilbre Island. Part documentary, part surreal dream. Place will blended fantasy and reality through a collage of moving imagery and sound.
Blending the natural sounds of the island with music and poetry. Place takes abstract moments of beauty and reconstructs them into a sensory island experience.
SONIC ACT
Suspended light over selenium cellThis work is part of and ongoing research on sound, sculpture and sonic experiments. Selenium cells under a suspended light box.
Each cell is wired and connected to an audio mixer and then amplified. This engagement between light and the selenium cells create different qualities of white noises. What we may experience when sitting in this room is quite similar to what we may experience when sitting in an outdoor landscape.
